south carolina address question

on some of the death certificates for Lancaster, SC the address reads: R6- what does the R6 mean?is this truly an address?

    I haven't seen the death certificate to know for sure but I would think it meant "Route 6."

      Could be Route 6 or perhaps this is a land description of a section of land.
