Muskegon county as a black hole!

I give up!! No death records, no probate records, no cemetery listings. I'm beginning to wonder if these people died or just evaporated. Any ideas would be welcome - I can't do the obituaries in the newspapers until I get to Lansing next year.

1. Daniel Hosler/Housler/Hostler/Hassler/etc.(1844-?) Shows in the 1890 veteran's schedule with wife Caroline in Blue Lake township. Also in the 1894 state census & the 1895 Muskegon Co. directory. After that - nothing. Wife is listed as a widow in 1900 census.

2. Caroline (Erskine) Hosler/Housler/Hostler/Hassler/etc.(@1845-?) In the 1900 census as a widow in Blue Lake township. In the 1901 county directory. No further mention found.

3. Sophia (?) Erskine Brand (@1823-?) Living with her son, Henry H. Erskine in 1880 census, Blue Lake township, as a widow. Not listed in the 1884 state census.

I'm currently at the FHL in Salt Lake and have hit bricks looking through their microfilms. Have only been to Muskegon once, and that was before I had all the information I currently have.

Any ideas would be welcome!!! Many thanks.

I googled Blue Lake Twp, MI. There is two counties with a Blue Water Twp, Muskegon and Kalkaska County. Maybe that will help. Check the census records and make sure it is Muskegon CO. See if that helps. Also, check Civil war registrations. I found one of my disappearing relative through the service records and was found in WI in a soldiers home.

    Hope that helps.

I found one of your 3 missing relatives. WWW.SeekingMichigan.org has the death certificate for Daniel Hostler with a death date of 13 Oct 1898. I will continue to search for you to see if I can find anymore.
