A kind of 'digital library' and 'strategy center' for those tracing ancestries in and from present-day Lithuania. I've created Discussion forums based on geographies, as this is the only part of GW where you can reply to each other! Just wondering if anyone out there has any relatives with the "Naujack" name from the southwest area of Lithuania.
After coming to America the name was changed to "Norick" or "Noack". I know that Joseph Naujack settled in Scranton, PA and had 7 children. I'm just trying to find out his parents names in Lithuania and whether or not he had any siblings.
It sounds like the archives in Vilnius are the way to go!

Hi Kimberly,
I just did a search of facebook names and the 'Naujack' surnames mostly come from Germany. The SW area of Lithuania used to be Prussian so could there be German connections?
Cheers
Dana

I have seen the name "Naujokas" which is not unusual. It is Lithuanian for ''newcomer'' so maybe a few hundred years ago when surnames were just beginning to be used, it was used for anyone who was a newcomer to the area. I can not find a particular region in Lithuania that it was popular in but that doesn't mean there wasn't a point of origin. I just wanted you to know that there is a Lithuanian name that Naujack might have come from and that it might help in your searches.

The Lithuanian versions of "Naujack" are Naujokas and Naujokaitis. The German versions are Naujok and Naujokat.
A large branch of the Naujok(as) family originates fro Ingavangis. I have a lot of information.
