Goedemiddag!
I have a Wersel/Versel relative who traveled from Utrecht to Brazil at least twice in the 1840s. I have several documents (Dutch & Brazilian) which confirm this, but I'm researching more deeply and am wondering if there are specific resources that might help me? I've located records on Genliaus, a bit on Stadsarchief Amsterdam and Utrecht Archief, but am looking for either travel records to/from Brazil or (wishful thinking) Brazilian records. Family history is that they (perhaps more than one went there) went to make fine furniture for Don Pedro II; the family eventually had a furniture manufacturing business in Cincinnati, OH from the late 1800s to before WWII (not sure why it went out of biz; haven't gotten that far just yet).
So, Utrecht to Brazil...any suggestions? Thank you so much for any information you can provide! Bedankt!

Laura, Goedemiddag too!
I assume you're referring to Nicolaas Jan Francois, born 24th April 1805. Anyway, the former Dutch colony of Suriname is bordering to the north of Brazil, so you might want to expand your search into that area, too. I'll keep an eye out for the name.
