For some reason I was not able to post a reply Arelene to your discussion regarding the possible attendance of François Daragon at the marriage between Michel Dubuc and Charlotte Bougret. You wrote:

Information found on the Internet revealed that FRANCOIS DARAGON (1664-1734) had an uncle named MICHEL DUBUC (1644-1722), a mason from Longueuil, New France. Michel married MARIE BAUDOIN (1645-1716). They had a son MICHEL DUBUC (1683-1777) who married CHARLOTTE BOUGRET on 10-Aug-1710. According to the Internet, FRANCOIS DARAGON attended the marriage of MICHEL,2nd and CHARLOTTE at Boucherville. FRANCOIS was identified as a "first cousin" to MICHEL 2nd.

Can anyone verify this information?

Here is the record of that marriage as found at the PRDH. It does not show François in attendance.

I also found the original marriage record on Ancestry.ca and it does not have François Daragon's name in it either.

Thank you, Judy, for the PRDH file on marriage of Michel Dubuc, Jr.. Evidently this was not the file that listed Francois Daragon as his first-cousin. I will keep searching.

To Judy: Further research on the Internet on the alliance between Michel Dubuc (1841-1722) and Francois Daragon-dit-Lafrance was found http//listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/GEN-FF/2003-06/105624977 from Denis Beauregard.

Denis explains that in a contract of marriage of a daughter of Francois that Francois and Michel are "cousins germain" - first-cousins!! Michel Dubuc (the father) was born 1644 in Bois Guillaume, Rouen, Haute-Normandie, son of Louis Dubuc and Marie Dormesnil. He married Marie Baudoin (born 1642 Normandie) in July 1667 at St-Jacques, Dieppe, Rouen. The first record in PRDH on Michel Dubuc was in 1672.

Marie Selle, wife of Nicolas Guillemette & mother of Marie Guillemette who was the wife of Francois Daragon, was also born in Bois-Guillaume, Rouen. Her father and mother were Guillaume Selle & Marguerite Dormesnil. Marie Selle and Michel Dubuc have also been identified as first-cousins! Wow!!

PLEASE - Does anyone on Genealogy Wise have access to Normandie, France Archives that would verify all hese connections to Francois Daragon-dit-Lafrance?
