Geniaus and Janelle thank you for your very kind comments
I believe in helping others as they may not have access to what I can get to.
When & where ever i see some one is looking for an answer I just jump in and go looking to see if I can find some thing.
Plus I do indexing for the LDS as well that is so interesting and have found quite a few listings from that as well, and bookmarks Ive lost count scroll up scroll down from one HDD to another and have 3 terrabyets drives now.

Its not serious but a little addictive to say the least but I enjoy it and that is what it's all about and keeping the light at the end of the tunnel glowing bright.

I just want to say a big thank you to Gena Philibert Ortega for the great tips she passes on, "Tips to help you rethink your brickwall research" and "A field trip may be in order", full of good tips!! Everyone here is so friendly and willing to help, it is no wonder that GenealogyWise is getting more members every day : ) Best thing I ever did !

Hi, I am an academic librarian from Northern NSW with a great love of history. Moving back to this area after living in the city, and closer to my 90-odd year old grandmother, has ignited a passion for discovering my ancestral roots. Looking forward to the adventure ahead.
  • Carmel M Reynen

wow take a recorder and get all you can Tanya, even if it is not right there is often something behind the story that can be followed on from and further info found.

'Twas a great day at the Hawkesbury Family History Fair yesterday. If you are within cooee of Windsor, NSW watch out for this event. I went to some great lectures and spent too much money at the great range of vendor stalls.
  • Barbara Diveney

My Sister-in-Law and I have had a wonderful time in the UK visiting friends and family. We have certainly done a lot of travelling since arriving in the UK on the 3rd May 2010. I think that we are both ready to go home to our families in Aussie now. Not looking forward to the long journey home. Barbara
  • Geniaus

Wondering if anyone else is going to Hornsby Library to see Jeremy Palmer speak tonight on Scottish Ancestry - apparently it is booked out.
  • Geniaus

Seems as though lots of us are hibernating (except for Barbara in the warm UK). There are lots of helpful folk on the list - why not try them out by posting a request to the If you want help.... discussion.

thought I'd let you all know that I am still in the picture and sadly could not get to the Sth Aust Roadshow. have been helping quite a few of late as well and of course doing indexing on the side, which has come in handy with a follow up on a family member in my tree, so there are rewards for those that index for genealogy sites.

I really enjoy chat, but most of the activity is during (the Australian) day, and in our evenings it goes very quite.

    Anyone interested in dropping in?

Nearly everyone I know has been suffering from that "spring is sprung" headcold from hell.
I somehow hoped that having had every form of winter anti-flu shot, I would just sail through without a sniffle. Fat chance! But please note: this bug is readily, if unintentionally, shared.
  • Patricia Knowles

Hi there, I am a new researcher and am interested in the Blackhall Family from around the Mudgee area late 1800s. I have recently found out that my great great grandmother was an aboriginal and her name was Diana Mudgee. I have been lucky to find lots of info but would love more on the lives of the Blackhalls themselves. My mother was a Blackhall (Alice Edna) and My father was a Dobell. I have become really obsessed with all this new information. Maybe someone has more info for me. Regards patricia Knowles

  • Michelle Kirwan

Hello all - I'm new here - I'm in Western Australia and researching Hanna, Pritchard, Ealden, Lynch and Hammond families right now, and Kirwan, McLeod and other families along the way. I've been using the internet for 15 years and researching my family history for 24 years, but only just started putting the two together, so I'm a bit of an old-school genealogist, just figuring out all the new fangled stuff (there was a big gap there when my children were growing up where I did next to no research). I've started a family history blog which I hope to add to fairly often time permitting.
