I'm new to this site, and was excited to see a Long Island group. I'm researching the HALL line from bayville. (Father's side) I've copied so much while in Salt Lake concerning Long Island..Marriage, Land, Death, etc But still face a Brick Wall.
Now on my mothers side we have SMITH (another area)
I hope to plan a trip back soon. I live in CA. Will be glad to share all I have...Dale
Dale, What time period are your HALLs and what names are you looking for ? I am looking for more on a Freelove HALL who married James Fleming. He was born in Scotland and died about 1835 in Buckram, Queens Co., N.Y. She was born in Bayville but I don't have any dates. They had a son, Alexander FLEMING (1804-1883). I have a folder on the HALL family.
Carol, I have documented back to Reuben Hall JR b 1801 (Bayville NY) I do know his father is Reuben SR. and Mother Sarah ?
I found Reuben Jr's Death information on the Oyster Bay Register's office. I don't know if you have seen this site or not, but if anyone is reading this they might try it. Go to google and put in "Index to Register of Deaths Town of Oyster Bay (1881-1920)" You can download this booklet to your computer. Also under Town Brochures & Booklets, there is the "1847-1849 Birth, Marriage and Death Records' This is great also.
I did locate James (1835) and Alexander's (1833) death dates, You can then send for their Death Records. They provided a form for Genealogy.... There are two James listed, but by checking the Cemeteries, you can see where a James and an Alexander are buried in the same cemetery. NO FREELOVE. ....
I believe I have some information sent to me on Freelove. Will search for it and post it. (I'm in the middle of re-organizing everything and can't find anything.
Hope this helps. Dale
Hi Dale, I am a "double cousin" of Carol listed below (discovered her on-line!!) Thanks for looking into Freelove Hall for us. You and Carol are both "Salt Laker's"--she has been going once a year for several years now!! Are your Smiths from the same area as Halls? (Bayville, Centre Island, Oyster Bay) I'm in the area if you need something looked up or checked out.
Dale,as Linda mentioned, Linda and I are related. We have been working together for quite a few years now. I have records from the Methodist Episcopal Church of Bayville. Reuben Hall was received into the church on Sept. 22, 1872. Other HALLs are Catherine, joined 1864, Josephine and Phebe (joined Mar. 13, 1868), Catherine (joined Nov 11, 1871), Augustus Sarah Jane, Fanny, Edward, and Asa (all joined Aug 4, 1872), ,Bertherina A (joined Jan 31, 1875), Mrs. Ida A.H., (joined Jan 4, 1882), Sarah, state in life is widow (joined April 1883), George (joined Feb 3, 1884), William E. (joined Sept 13, 1891), Unfortunately, it does not give any relationships, parents, etc. in these records. There were no death/funeral records on the microfilm. The microfilm is located at the Locust Valley Library, Locust Valley, N.Y.
Carol, Thank you for the information sent. Reuben Hall was my GGGg/father. HIS Grand son, my G-grandfather was the George, who married Ida A. H. Keyes...
The HALL'S were one of two families who gave land for the Cemetery and the 1st Methdoist Church. (I have the land records on them.)
I oftened wondered when IDA came to Bayville. Their first child, George (Not a jr.) was born in 1890.
This give me another avenue to search.....Thank you Soooooooo much. Dale

I am researching the Emma T. and Ferdnand Carlson family originally of Brooklyn, Queens, then later Elmont, NY... They had two daughters, Mabel T. and Lillian. Mabel T. married Evert Soderlund, living also in Elmont. No information on Lillian. Emma T. was my aunt (b. 1894).
Greetings from Beautiful British Columbia! I am researching POWELL, BRUSH, PEARSALL and related families from late 1700's and early 1800's. I would love to connect with anyone else searching these names on Long Island and in NYC.
Jeannine, Have direct-line Powells and a few related-by-marriage Pearsalls. No Brush, though. Powells: Thomas and Abigail (8G grandparents) through their daughter Abigail who m. Richard Willets. Pearsalls: Martha who m. 7G uncle Henry Cock, Henry who m. 6G aunt Mary Titus, and Sarah who m. 6G uncle John Titus. I have no idea how these Pearsalls might have been related, and would love to learn. Mary and John Titus were brother and sister; were Henry and Sarah Pearsall?
