Fantastic! I need help here, more than anywhere else. My great-grandparents on my dad's side came here from Sweden abt 1890. My dad says a recruiter came to Sweden looking for lumberjacks. My ggrandpa Peter Johnson came to Wexford County, Michigan. Dad says he had forearms like Popeye.

I have tried to get a naturalization record on ggpa Peter, but the NIS was not able to find it. Now, I guess I need to see if the state has it.

I have access to all Swedish parish records so if anyone needs help with. an individual record, I may be able to help. Have no problem reading old Swedish parish records

My great-grandfather, Karl Oskar Segh, left Vadstena in 1892 for the United States. He never told the family his real name, said that he had been born in Liverpool, and that he came to the US when he was 9 years old. The truth is that he was born in S;t Per parish in Vadstena, and came when he was 19 years old.

I suspect that he was in some kind of trouble when he left Sweden and wondered if there is any way to find out.

Brita Sofia Ersdotter Hedlund, born 15 Apr 1848 in Överkalix, Norbotten, Sweden. She was the daughter of Erik Olofsson Hedlund and Märta Larsdotter.

The second Family I am looking for is August Börjesson.

August Börjesson, born 02 Jul 1862 in Brattorp Lilleg Istorp (P) Sweden; died 17 Aug 1960 in Fagerhult Storegard, Istorps församling, Alvborgs Lan. He was the son of Börge Andersson and Anna Britta Jönsdotter. He married Anna Josephina Andersdotter 17 Apr 1888 in Istorp (P).
Anna Josephina Andersdotter, born 14 Feb 1870 in Skattergården, Istorp (P) Sweden; died 21 Apr 1918 in Fagerhult Storegard, Istorps församling, Alvborgs Lan. She was the daughter of Anders Andersson and Inga Cajsa Eriksdotter.

I've come to a dead end - from my gr grandfather who came from Sweden in 1890, and settled in Iowa. Arrived with a wife and a small child. The family has no information on who his parents were and his death certificate says parents were "unknown", presumably because he never told anyone. I'm hoping this group can help me. Ole B. I am researching my grandmothers family, she was Anna Stjernqvist arrived in Australia on the Chyebassa in 1885. Her parents were Mans Stjernqvist and Nilla Nilsson from Christansstad Finja.

I am researching my husbands second great grandfather who is Glazier Sven Jonsson and married Inga Maria Samuelsdotter. I know Glazier was born in Sweden but I don't know where. They had seven children, but one most interest in is Anna Sofia Swanson. She was born November 21, 1879 in Vinstad, Sweden. First question is I know she is not adopted so how did she get the last name from Swanson when her father's last name is Jonsson? Second where is Vinstad? I can't seem to find any records.
