    I have Stefan BAKAJ born 18 Oct 1921 in Wolosiw, Galizia, Poland. His Parents were Adam BAKAJ and Sofia BOGALUK. He married 21 Sept 1948 in Horst, Germany to Anna RUDNYK.
    Anna RUDNYK was born 20 Jun 1927 in Kropywna, Galizia, Poland. Her parents were Michel RUNDYK and Melanie (unknown).
    Stefan and Anna were Ukranian, and research is difficult because of changing borders, and of course the confusion of the war.
    I would be happy to accept any help and suggestions.

    Hello! I have one relative who was born in Galacia and that is my Great Grandmother Anna Diack (Diak). She was born 15JUL1896, came to Canada before 1915 and died in 1926. She married Wasyl Wikobroda. Her parents were John Diack and Magda Procak.

I've just started trying to find information about them.  Last names of Pfeifer, Lehr, Rilling, Mensch... so far :-)  I don't know much about that side of my family in the way of history... but I'm told they are all German.

    My grandmothers name is Maria bogusz (maiden name is rudnyk) I believe from my studies that melanie's surname is salabaj. I'm not to sure of the correct spelling as I am at work and don't have the paperwork with me. Im only a very novice at researching so I may be wrong.     My husband's grandparents were from Galicia.  They came over around 1905.  Their last name was Romanski.  His grandfather was Karol Romanski and his grandmother was Regina Kalfas Romanski.  They settled in Cleveland, Ohio.  It has been hard finding any info on them.  If any one has any info, I would appreciate the help.

    I'm confused when it comes to Galacia. I'd not heard of it until a little while back when I found my great grandparents had come from Galacia before they emigrated to the USA.

    My great grandfather was Adolf Lapidus who was Russian and his wife was Sarah who was German. I got this information off my grandmother's birth certificate. There is no surname for Sarah. All it says is Sero ----. I know that she became "Sarah" as that is what is down in passenger ship records for her. Adolf and Sarah came from Galacia and arrived in New York in 1888 but settled in Boston where they had 3 children. In 1894 Sarah and the children left the USA to come to the UK.

    I cannot find anything about Adolf and Sarah before the passenger ship record which took them to the USA and nothing at all about what happened to Adolf. After Sarah and the children came to the UK, two of the children were put into an orphanage and Sarah and the other child seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth. There are no death records for them and its a real mystery.

    Has anyone got any ideas please.

    Greetings, I am researching my father's side of the family which is Polish. My grandparents (GLOGOWSKI and KRYGOWSKI) lived in Chicago (Archer and Harlem) Most of my research has been on my grandmother's side of the family (KRYGOWSKI). I believe that her family originates from Pagorzgna, Poland.

    I am looking for any good sources and methods to research Polish records from the States.

    Hello, I'm researching, Olejniczak, Wolak, Bielat, Bawol, Ryz, Ceglowski, Zak, Szafranski, Bezler, Szudermaska, Jankowski, Wesolowska and Pedziwiatr . All were from the Galician area except for Ceglowski which was closer to Czechoslavakia as far as my research can tell.

    Hi!  I am researching the surname Skupien' and Tomasik.  I have a Declaration of Intention to become a US citizen dated 4/16/1913 for Andrzej Skupien'.  It indicates his birthday as 11/6/1870 and was born in Odrowanz, Poland-Austria.  There are several towns by this name, but given the name distribution in Poland, I believe it is the one in the Podhale/Galacia area.  He arrived in the US 3/28/1897 and died 9/14/1937.  In 1899, his wife to be, Karoline Tomasik, arrived.  Karoline was born 10/4/1876 and came from Sadkowa, Jaslo Poland.  She lived until 7/23/1965.  I do not know if either had brothers or sisters, although I'm sure they did.  I have found the Skupien' name in the book "Zapomnlane Podhale" ISBN 83-921074-0-3, but have not been able to determine if and how they might be related.  There was a land ownership map with Skupien' as #22, with "(1617)" beside the name.  The property was in Odrowaz.  Other references to Skupien' came from the book, listing Wojciech Skupien' as przysie  of Pieniazkowice in 1818, a Mateusz Skupien' as wojt in 1822, and Jacek Skupien' for something in 1848.  The book is all in Polish.  Family Search listed a Jozef Skupien born in 1863, also from Pieniazkowice.  Again, no idea if they are related to my Grandfather.  My father Michael Scupien, was born 7/10/1900 and died 10/2/1977 in Beaverton Oregon.  Any information will be appreciated.  Thanks!
