Hello everyone. My Reed line doesn't go back very far as I have a brickwall. My husband's great grandmother was Mary Eva Reed b. 10/19/1887 Cass Co., TX d. 11/25/1974 Walker Co., TX. She married James Robert Haltom. Mary's parents were J.R. Reed (my brick wall) b. GA. and Susan "Susie" A. McCain b. 1/30/1869 Miss. d. 9/19/1932 Harris Co., TX. I have not figured out what the J.R. stands for, what year he was born, or his parents' names. Any help would be appreciated.

My great-great-great Grandmother was Hannah Tucker Reed. She was born in Lower Eversham, New Jersey in 1821 and died in Idaho in 1904. She was married to James Graham (1804 - 1857) in 1849. James was born in Ireland. I haven't done much research on this line as of yet. I do however have a picture of Hannah (many are surprised that I do) given to my grandfather from a 3rd cousin of his. http://www3.tribalpages.com/tpphotos/fullphotos15/jackman_157355.jpg She (Hannah) was a midwife who immigrated to Utah from California on the Mormon Trail in 1848 in the Ebenezer Brown Company. In 1846 she went on a voyage from NY to California on the infamous Brooklyn (considered to be the longest sea voyage of any religious outcasts) with her son John Clark Reed Jamison (Hannah is believed to be a widow at the point of one Alexander Jamison), her sister Christiana Rachel Reed, mother Christianna Rachel Reed (Gregory), and brother John Haines Reed.

Hi, I am interested in connecting with those around the world with ancestors decending from the surname REED from Stithians in Cornwall. My GGG Grandparents where buried in St Day. GGG Grandfather Joseph 1794 was born in Stithians to Nicholas Reed and Catherine Oppy. I have made contact in Australia with many decendants so I am hoping for an overseas decendant.

    many thanks Susan .

Talk to me if you wish to access my Reed page.

My Reed lineage goes back to John Reed, a Revolutionary soldier, and as a result I'm a member of the DAR, as was my great Grandmother, Florence Mahala (REED) RESH. Any connections?
  • Ruth Himan

My Reeds are also from the Revolutionary War coming from Ireland. Is anyone here descended from David Reed and Elizabeth Messersmith from the Missouri area?
  • Carolyn Rust

I'm looking for ancestry for Stephen Reed (1762-1814) and his wife Polly Ackley (1770-1821).  They lived in Massena, St. Lawrence, NY.  Oral tradition says he "came up from New York City" and that he was of Scots descent and a well educated family.  He had two brothers named John (a judge) and Gilbert.  Stephen was a "lister" in the town of Paiges (Pages) Corner, VT, and he and his family moved to Massena in 1801.  He built a sawmill and a grist mill.  Any additional information will be greatly appreciated, and I'll be happy to share what I have.

My 3rd great grandparents are Nathaniel Reed and Minerva Douglas.  I'm unable to figure out his parents.  A true brickwall.  (I do know that Minvera's father was from CT and moved to VT after Rev. War and started family there, and then moved to MI also).  I suspect the Reeds came from MA or CT and then moved to VT after the Rev. War.  And son Nathaniel married Minivera and they then took their growing family to Kalamazoo Co,, Michigan.   They had 9 children.
