I'm happy to have found Genealogy Wise and Kentucky Genealogy. My patermal grandmother was born near Crider Kentucky, just north of Princeton - her family had been in that area for several generations - and my maternal great-grandmother from Paintsville.
  • Jeanie DiLeonardo

My KY families are Cox and Garrison (originally from Albemarle County, VA). My great-great grandfather was Robert M Cox, born c. 1814 in KY. He married (1838) Frances Adeline Garrison in Adair County, and they later lived in Green County before moving to Illinois. Frances Adeline had a sister, Sidney Ann, who married a Samuel R Cox in Adair County about the same time; I think Robert & Samuel may have been brothers, as they continued to live near one another for at least a decade. Samuel was born 1818 in KY. Frances & Sidney's father Valentine "Volly" Garrison moved from VA to Adair County after 1820, and later to Green County. There appear to have been other Garrison family members that moved from Albemarle County, VA, to Adair and Green Counties, KY.
  • Sue McCormick

Searching Aton, mainly in Union, Hopkins, and Webster Counties. This is my husband's mother's family. As she didn't tell her children much about the family, we're pretty much on our own her, with a head start from a distant cousin who generously shared some information.

Hi my main families are JOYCE from Trigg County, KY also some in Caldwell, Calloway and Marshall Counties. The Garrott's I research is from Christian, Todd and Graves. Have lived in Trigg most of my life. I am not one to follow forums, and in fact my husband is the one who found GenealoyWise on FaceBook and sent me the link. Guess you are never to old to learn new tricks. But if you have passion about what you are doing I guess it is easy to talk about. Glad to meet everyone. If I can help anyone just let me know.

  • Emily Doolin Aulicino

My Doolin line lived in Kentucky before 1800 and some moved to Missouri by 1832. James Doolin (also seen as Duling and Dulin at times) was married to Mary UNKNOWN and had many children. Mostly they lived in Pulaski Co, KY, but were in Fleming and possibly others before that.

My direct line from his son Benjamin moved to Premiscot/New Madrid Co, MO ca 1832-38 and then on to Audrain Co, MO. I am greatly interested in any and all Doolin lines.

I run the Doolin DNA Project and welcome any male with the surname Doolin (any spelling) to consider testing. Sometimes it is the only way to know if one is related or not.

My family's oral history says we are related to the Oklahoma outlaw Bill Doolin. This may or may not be true, so currently I'm waiting for the test results of a relative of Bill to see. Could you be related????

    See the website at:

  • Bellinda Myrick-Barnett

    Hello,

My Kentucky families helped settle Christian and Caldwell Counties in Kentucky after arriving there immediately after the Revolutionary War from South Carolina and Virginia. They were the EARLE, HOLBROOK, JENNINGS, and JORDAN families that married into the WOLFE & GRIFFIN families. My paternal 4th great grandfather was Samuel EARLE, IV, (RS,) (2nd son of his name,) born: January 1760 at Town Run, Fauquier County, Virginia, who married Tabitha WILLIAMS, born: 1766 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia, (daughter of George WILLIAMS, descended from two lines of WILLIAMS from England to New England & Virginia in the 1600's including Sydrach WILLIAMS, brother of New England's (Reverend) Roger WILLIAMS.) Samuel EARLE, IV, was the son of (Major) Samuel EARLE, III, of Cople Parish, Westmoreland County, Virginia, (1st elected Member of the House of Burgesses from Frederick County, Virginia,) and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth HOLBROOK. (Major) Samuel EARLE, III was 1st married to Anna SORRELL and they had the 1st born Samuel EARLE, IV born: 1727, died: 1752, married a Miss ? PERKINS, 1/2 brother to my Samuel, IV.

Samuel EARLE, IV, (RS,) (2nd of his name,) & Tabitha WILLIAMS were the parents of my 3rd great grandmother, Kitty EARLE, born: abt. 1795 either in South Carolina or Virginia, who married Bailey JENNINGS in 1811 in Christian County, Kentucky. Bailey JENNINGS was the son of Rachel TUCKER & her husband, John JENNINGS, (RS,) who was born in Richmond County, Virginia, (son of Sarah MOORE & Edward Salley JENNINGS, Sr., son of Ann KELLY & William JENNINGS, Jr., son of Mary WILLOUGHBY & William JENNINGS, Sr., son of immigrant John JENNINGS from England & his wife, Margaret PAYNE, daughter of John PAYNE & Margaret ROBINSON, daughter of Ann MORE & Richard ROBINSON, uncle of Christopher ROBINSON.) They were all of Old Rappahannock County, Virginia and John PAYNE also of Westmoreland County, Virginia. Ann KELLY was the daughter of Amy DONIPHAN and (Captain) John KELLY, son of Matthew KELLY & Penelope "Nelly" NORTON. Matthew KELLY was the son of Sarah WATSON and John KELLY/O'KELLY and Penelope "Nelly" NORTON's brother was Thomas NORTON and their father was Patrick NORTON, also of Old Rappahannock County, Virginia. I believe that Patrick NORTON married Margaret SULLIVAN/aka O'SULLIVAN/aka SWILLIVANT & SWELLIVANT, daughter of Cornelius of the same variations on SULLIVAN.

  • Paul Frazier Gerhart

My g-g-grandfather was Solomon Frazier (20 July 1807, KY – 13 March 1854, Daviess Co., MO. My g-g-grandmother (wife of Solomon) was Mary (Polly) Cope, dau of Wiley Cope (cir 1775-1848) who immigrated to Daviess Co., MO in 1836 from Quicksand Creek area in what is now Breathitt County, KY. Area was Floyd Co (1800-20); Perry Co. (1820-39). “Saul” Frazier lived adjacent to John Frasure in Perry Co, KY Census of 1830. Russel (invariably spelled with only one “l”) Frazier, brother to Solomon Frazier according to Dickie Diaries was born 1800-10, married Sally Cope, sister of Mary Cope. Solomon and Russell emigrated from KY with Cope family in 1836 to Daviess Co, MO.
Solomon and Russel had flint lock long rifles made in Kentucky prior to leaving for Missouri. The rifles were named “Chucky Jack” (an apparent reference to John “Chucky Jack” Severe who was born on the Nolichucky River and was the first governor of TN) and “Johnny Mac” whose origin is not known.
Mae Frazier (1912-2009) of Lexington KY was a visiting nurse in the 1950’s and met many residents of East Kentucky in that capacity. Mae compiled an extensive family history of the Combs and Frazier families. Mae reported that all Fraziers she had met with roots in southeastern Kentucky prior to 1850 were descended from one of several Frazier brothers who migrated from southwestern Virginia into Kentucky about 1800. One of the Frazier brothers settled on the Kentucky River near the mouth of Quicksand Creek. No relationship between Solomon and Russel and Mae’s family has been proven, however.
It would be useful to hear from anyone with Frazier roots in southwestern Virginia or southeastern Kentucky. Cousin Elmer Lee “Dink” Frazier is a direct descendant of Russel and his Y-DNA results are posted at FamilyTreeDNA.com. We are seeking other Fraziers with southwest VA or southeast KY roots who would be willing to test.
