`Hi, Thomas. I was wondering if any of your research encompassed the United States, particularly the states of Georgia and Texas? I am researching Spivey ancestors who lived in Schley County, Georgia, and on the Dawson Plantation in Texas [exact location not known]. Thank you. Spivey

Thanks for your reply, Thomas. I am currently trying to piece this family together. I have several leads, but they are not connecting up in the way I need to substantiate their relationships. Wiley Spivey [9 Jan 1918-27 Oct 1983], Claude Spivey [20 July 1914-Feb 1986], and Henry Spivey [1907-17 Nov 1961] were the sons of Claud Spivey [4 Dec 1882-Aft Apr 1930] and Mary Jane Murray [Aug 1883-22 Oct 1927] .

The parents of Mary Jane Murray were Reuben Murray [born Jan 1859] and Mandy Rucker [born Aug 1859]. I have not been able to identify the parents of Mary Jane's husband, Claud Spivey.

This family seems to have lived in and around the Schley County area of Georgia. I have also tried to search in Houston County [birthplace of Reuben Murray] and Taylor County [birthplace of Mandy Rucker].

I received information from a fellow researcher that indicates she believes the parents of Claud Spivey were Wiley Spivey [Sep 1848] and Nellie Greene [Oct 1859]. This researcher said she believed that Wiley Spivey [Sep 1848] was the brother of Nathan Spivey [whose siblings she believes were sold to the Dawson Plantation in Texas], If I interpret what she says in an e-mail she forwarded to me, at least two of the siblings [Wiley and Nathan] were sold in Schley County.

This is where I am now stuck, and have been for the last few years. I cannot find any documentation to corroborate the relationships this researcher claims exist. I am a member of Ancestry.com and I continually monitor the Spivey Family Tree I have there for leads. I did find records on Wiley Spivey and his family, but nothing that would give me the connection to Claud Spivey and his son, Wiley. It seems these were not uncommon names for the place and time.

If any of these people, places, or names are familiar to you, please let me know. Perhaps you can suggest what I can do next [travel is not possible for me anymore]. Thank you. Spivey
