    Hi Ian,
Thanks for joining my Lithuanian group.

I'm thinking the "Walincinule" is actually Valinčiute, which is the maiden form of Valinčius. There are no names in the Lithuanian phonebook starting with Skript. Based on your spelling, I'd guess you were looking for something like Skriptevičiute, which would be the maiden of Skriptevičius; however, the closest I found in the phone directory was Skripėtienė, which is a female married form of something shorter than Skriptevičius. If Skriptevičius were a real name, the married form would be Skriptevičiene. Have you searched the Free BMD for your grandparents? Were they in England by the 1901 census?

Your Voskevicus name would more accurately be Vaškevičius, and Ališauskas for Alisauskas, et. al. Except for the Skript name, all the names are pretty common I'm afraid.

    Ian,
Bellshill and, I think, Motherwell show up for one of my names (Sakatauskas). I'm positive that part of the family is connected to mine, but no one in Lithuania (I've chatted with a pair of sisters there) remembers far back enough.

Remember that during those times, there effectively was no Lithuania...it was all Russia, so it's not surprising if that's the nativity Vincas claimed. Though if he came via Canada, but said he came directly from Russia, I see the confusion.
