Hi Maureen,
My Bauer was Alesa Bauer. She married Moses Blum somewhere in Alsace, probably about 1850. She probably was Jewish. I can't seem to find out anything about either of them. Her daughter Regine Meserlin nee Blum was my greatgrandmother and immigrated to the US in the 1880s.
