It has been a while.. I'm still searching, but making slow slow progress. I took my genealogy stuff off RootsWeb and it's now at dunhamwilcox.net. Right now, I'm transcribing epitaphs from Groton, MA.

Exactly! I made the move when they insisted they were going to put "ancestry" into the links for RootsWeb files - I thought from there it would be one short step to putting a subscription firewall in front of the files. It costs me about $10 a month to be independent, but it feels better. So if you're paranoid, then so am I. I have over 5000 files on line now (thanks in large part to Coralyn Brown, Dave Swerdfeger & Janece Streig) & I don't want people to have to pay to access them.
