Mariner records that are available are mostly thru Findmypast UK

The early records are being transcribed by the GRO and will be out later in 2012. The only other way is to order films thru IGI Morman records.

When applying there is a need to find the alpha name and corresponding

Film Numbers. The record will give year of birth, birth town,

Official Number, Rank, Ships attached to or voyages.

Which mariner records are these? And are you sure the GRO are doing their own transcriptions. Surely Findmypast are doing this?

FINDMYPAST ARE DOING A LOT OF RECORDS WHICH ARE AVAILABLE  NOW AND CAN BE SERCHED BY

A NUMBER OF AREAS BY YEARS. I FOUND LOT OF MY CONNECTIONS WITH THEM FROM WATERLOO THRU TO

AFRICA WARS TO 1940 -45 . THERE IS THE OTHER WAY THRU  NAT ARCHIVES WAR MEDALS AND ASSOCIATED

LINKS.GRO HAVE  A LOT BUT ANCESTRY AND FINDMYPAST ARE TRYING TO GAIN THE MOST OUT OF THEM.

BY CHARGING FEES, WHICH IS OKAY I GUESS. THE OLD WAY WAS TO ORDER IN IGI FILMS BY A-Z DEPENDING ON THE COMBINATIONS A-G, H- K  ETC. EARLY RECORDS ARE STILL HELD THAT WAY BUT THERE IS MUCH MORE OUT NOW AND WILL BE RELEASED OVER TIME.
