My great grandfather arrived at New Orleans on December 12,1836. He was aboard the Orion out of Hamburg listed as passenger #66 with two chests. His whole name is very much shortened on the ship's passenger list. His origin is listed as Venne. His mother, Regina Winter, is buried in a Lutheran Church Cemetery located in Friendship, Brown Township, Ripley County, Indiana. Near her grave is another grave of someone who could be her son who was born 1813 in Engter. I own the book, Venne In America, and it seems my ancestors came earlier than most of the former Venne residents.
