My father was from Jalisco, Mx. and my mother from Zacatecas, Mx. My family ancestors go back 18 generations from that part of Mexico and to Granada, Spain.

The names I'm researching are: DE LEON, CARLOS, FLORES, BANUELOS, VILLANEDA, DE ESCOBEDO, COVARUBIAS, and others.

I belong to NuestrosRanchos, a genealogy group for serious researchers in the tri-state area of Jalisco, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, MEXICO

My mother was born in Arandas, Jalisco. I have been doing research on her family, Fonseca, and my father's family, Penilla. I would like to be able to find any info about their families. Because of lack of records it has been a difficult process. I have met some Penillas who have turned out to be my family!
I found this info:MARIA GUADALUPE FLORES PENILLA Pedigree

Celso Penilla is my father. His mother was Maria Penilla Amezola. His father Simon was killed during one of the "revolutions" I'm told that that is a special plaque honoring my grandfather Simon in a church in Mexico.
My own paternal grandfather, Francisco de Leon (b. 24 Oct 1883 in Huejucar, Jalisco) was also beaten up during the Revolution.
Francisco was a relative of the mayor of some town and he was beaten up by Pancho Villa's thugs because he was the only one in town who may have had the keys to the city's treasury. He died later of this beating. I have his photo here on GenealogyWise.. He was a music composer and he's holding a musical horn.
I know he died before 1921 because when my grandmother crossed the border in 1921, she listed herself as a widow.
