We have a person in the county i live in- who is a control freak and if she can not get the person to change it- she goes straight to find a grave and has gotten them black balls from their account.
I know this first hand- if you can not get them to change it then this would be your venue.

I have to admit that I was upset with the woman who included incorrect information when when added my relatives to FAG.
I would never seek revenge against someone who did not agree with me. I am sure she meant well. She has added a vast number of people to FAG.
I sent a private e-mail to the woman and requested her sources. Although her e-mail was still valid, I did not receive a reply.
My cousins and I are interested in genealogy. I attend a yearly family reunion, family is very important.I have copies of my relatives' death certificates and newpaper clippings of their obituaries. I also visited the cemetery where they are buried.
I searched for a possible source of the woman/s information. I discovered that one of my distant cousins posted the information regarding my relatives. I contacted my cousin and he made corrections to his database.
I added my relatives to FAG with the correct information.
Judy,
I am glad that someone in your family corrected there side- its hard enought to find the correct family information without someone putting wrong data in where it should not be.
I do a lot of pictures in a three county area around me- and i know first hand the vindictivness(sp) of this other person in my county - she will not allow her pictures to be used in your family tree IF you are putting them on a paid site like Ancestory.com- I have seen her handiwork in quite a few places- one place she almost got a friend of mines site totally removed before she caught it. Then it was quite a mess to straight out.
I take pictures so people away from here can have the pictures of their loved ones finally resting spot. And if i can help with an obituary i do that too- as we are heavy into genealogy in our county and as such hold offices in that society.
Genealogy is addictive until someone destorys that fun with information that is not right and causes grief especially when they will not change it , with the persons documentation.
I also belong to another site that has helped me with several brickwalls if you are interested- you have to ask to join.
I am the brickwall coordinator- so if you are ever wanting any more help

“if she can not get the person to change it- she goes straight to find a grave”
The procedure is outlined in the site FAQs – if a member does not make a valid correction within 30 days of the date of the Suggested Correction, the person who sent the suggestion can forward it to a special address for editing/correcting. Why is it being a “control freak” to utilize the procedure set forth by the site owner?
“and has gotten them black balls from their account.”
In all my years on FAG, I have never known of one member to be able to get another “banned” as each member is responsible for their own behavior. Even when a member has broken the rules, FAG admins usually give them several chances to change their behavior before banning them entirely. Members are supposed to report the most egregious rule breaking, like repeated deliberately duplicating. Again, I don’t understand how that is being a “control freak”.
“I know this first hand”
Does that mean you did not make a valid correction submitted to you and the admins had to do it? If so, it would appear you are not following the site's rules.
“i know first hand the vindictivness(sp) of this other person in my county - she will not allow her pictures to be used in your family tree IF you are putting them on a paid site like Ancestory.com”
Cynthia, every photographer has the exclusive right to decide where their photos are published. “Copyright” literally means who has the right to copy. If someone chooses not to allow their photos to be placed on Ancestry, that is not vindictiveness; it is simply exercising their rights.
“one place she almost got a friend of mines site totally removed before she caught it. Then it was quite a mess to straight out.”
Was your friend following the rules of the site she was using? Sites typically do warn users if they have been reported for doing something contrary to their policies. Even when someone has their own website, they are subject to the policies of the hosting service, unless they actually own the server themselves, which is not very likely. For example, if you broke the rules here on GenealogyWise, you would probably be warned not to do it again rather than being shut out entirely. Ancestry most certainly does that. If you had your own website, you would probably rent server space from a hosting company and part of most rental agreements is an "Acceptable Use Policy" stating what you can and cannot do. Nearly all hosting companies prohibit violating someone else's copyrights. If you copied a photo without the photographer's permission and the photographer reported you to the hosting company, the hosting company would send you a "cease and desist" letter then, if you continued to violate that "Acceptable Use Policy", your account would be terminated, unless it was something extreme like child pornography.
