Anyone here looking for ancestors in Prussia? obviously, its highly doubtful any vital records survive, but there may be other records someone has found with names in it at least! I'm looking for the Posen area, around 1800, and possibly well thru the 1800's, I'm not sure. Rich family I understand, whose wealth probably disappeared with the fall of the Prussian Empire about 1875. Fiedler is the name- Henry Fiedler, born sometime around or before 1800 is the family I am looking for. And any info on how or where to look! Language is a barrier here too. How do you people handle that? I have a German friend, who does speak the language, who is going back home this month. She would probably do some looking for me, if I knew where to send her! Do you know of any place that would be helpful in finding information on Belarusian/Jewish ancestry?
I'm looking for sources for Prussian/Jewish ancestry - so I'm afraid I'm not much help to you. What did Belarusia become?
Byelorussia is now Belarus, at various times it was part of Poland, Part of Russia, and was once known as White Russia.
