We have tracked Ernst Wilhelm Schulz and his wife Pauline from Sagan Germany (now Zagan Poland) and are trying to pinpoint how they traveled from New Orleans to Cannelton Indiana.  Does anybody know anything about the boats that traveled between the two?

Also, any information regarding the Schulz' in Sagan would be nice as well!

Thanks SO much!

Wes,

Ernst and Paulina Schulz were my great great grandparents. They were German speakers and emigrated from Germany with their 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls on the Globus. Their youngest daughter, Laura, was my great grandmother. They did sail to the Port of New Orleans and went through immigration. They traveled up the Mississippi and then the Ohio on a riverboat to Cannelton, Ind.

The Ernst worked at a woolen mill in Sagan. Ernst was hired to work at a mill in the U.S. It must have been the cotton mill est. by the cotton farmers across the river. I've tried to find the name of the mill in Sagan. The European millers did come to St. Louis for the World's Fair in 1904 as exhibitors. I've looked for that name in the documents from the Fair. Haven't found it yet.

How are you connected to the family? I look forward to your response.

Laura;

SO good to hear from you!    My wife is Kelley Schulz (Roy) and Ernst and Pauline are her Great, Great, Great Grandparents.  She has been doing years of genealogy work, and has amassed considerable background for the Schulz' here in America..across Indiana.  She is working hard to find the German connections, and believe the two of you should connect directly.  Her name is Kelley and her email is  kelleyroy@live.com.

Please give her a shout and see if there is information we can share!
