Hello all

I am trying to trace information regarding my ancestors from; Cobh (Queenstown); Passage West; and Dundalk.

My Grandfather, Henry Dunne was born Dundalk 18 Aug 1875, my Grandmother Maryanne (formerly Mannix) was born 24 May 1883, probably Cork. They were married at St Colman's Cathedral, Cobh (Queenstown) and lived initially at The Mall, Cobh, and then at Courthouse Hill and The Bank House, in Passage West.

My Grandfather, Henry Dunne was a shipwright at Royal Victoria Dockyard, Passage West, but had to leave Ireland in 1920's because, like so many other people, his job involved working on British navy ships. Over the next ten years or so, Henry and Maryanne sent money back to their children (who were being brought up by two elder sisters. My Father Anthony Donal Dunne (nickname Guy) left Passage West, for England with his brother, when he was age 12.

My Grandfather's parents wereLaurence Dunne, and Mary (formerly believed to be McArdle), and they lived at Barrack Street, Dundalk.

Just to confirm I have seen the record and indeed Henry's mother is a McArdle.

Hello Kevin. Since my original post, I have confirmation (short copy of marriage record) that Mary is a McArdle - but have had zero luck in tracing further back, as only other detail on marriage record is that her father's name is 'McArdle', which does not help too much!  Do you have any, or can you point me in the direction that I need to go, to find out more about Mary? Any pointer would help!
