The families of Breum and Breaum

HI, I have found that the original name of the family was: the father: Peder Johanessen Aarstue; mother: Berthe Hansdatter. The would have married around the middle 1600's or early 1700's in Norway somewhere around Luster, Norway. The family emmigrated to the States in the early 1800's, landing in New York I think. After arriving here the family had a fued and half of the family added the letter 'a' for a spelling of Breaum. My father is from the Breaum side and I would like to tie the two sides together and see who the relatives are on the Breum side and where they have lived. Anyone that might have any information would be greatly appreciated.
