I am a friend and I have the computer and I am trying to help Jimmy Smithers research his family roots in Kentucky and elsewhere. As for me, My mother was born in Bond, Kentucky up somewhere near London in Jackson County at a place called "Letterbox Ridge" in the year 1900. (That's what she told me.)
So, I got enough Kentucky blood to love real lard biscuit. I have always said, "Anyone who can't make a lard biscuit ain't from Kentucky or Tennessee." I also love Irvine and I really enjoy seeing Sweet Lick Knob, The Kentucky River and all the fine folk down there. I was so very sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Puckett. I had met him and he was a fine gentlleman and did right smart of good work putting out all those books and everything that Jimmy and I love to read.
Jim's Mom was named Elizabeth and she and Jimmy and Walter Sr., lived on Possum Run Road in or near Sand Hill Christian Church area and Mom rests at that cemetery.
Aunt Edna Rose lived just a short ways away with her husband Leonard. They farmed for awhile right there on Sand Hill and their house is still there.
So that's who I am and what I am doing and The Lord bless and keep everyone of you because you are all fine and upstanding people. I know that because I have met many of you on my trips down there with Jimmy.
I will be in touch and if anyone knows anything they can tell us about Mr. Jesse Hardy (Jim's Grand Pappy) or any of them fine folk, please give me a holler on this here e-mail and thank you very much for your kind and Christian hearts.
