Who is Jessie Cleo Floyd?
In the 1900 Census for the Lincoln District, Marion Co., WV, the household of Pernina J. (Cole) Floyd (wife of John A. Floyd) lists a Jessie Cleo Floyd (age 8) as grand daughter. Does anyone know who Jessie is the daughter of? Nancy E. Floyd is also in the household. I don't have a marriage for her until 1919. I've found no other trace of of Jessie. Is anyone familiar with this person?

I found Jesse living with her grandmother, Pernina, in the 1910 census Lincoln, Marion Co. WV. (They are indexed under Lloyd instead of Floyd). Also in the household is Pernina's daughter, Lida. Lida may be the unmarried mother of Jesse. In 1920 Lidia is living with her brother H. A. Floyd (Henry A.). I find the family in 1880 and although Henry is listed, Lidia is not. She would have been born around 1873 and would have been about 19 when Jesse was born. This is all speculation, but I can't find anything else that fits. Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder where Lidia is in 1910 and where Nancy is in 1920? Is it possible that instead of Nancy E. Floyd it is Nancy L(idia) Floyd?

I think that they may be the same person. Their names do not both appear in the same census year.
1880 - Nancy
1900 - Nancy
1910 - Lida
1920 - Lidia
Do you know what her married name was? Is there a marriage certificate? death certificate?

I have:
Nancy E.FLOYD and Benjamin F.McDOUGAL 17 MAY 1919
Nancy E. FLOYD and Solon (Salomon) Trimble WILSON 19 MAR 1921
both marriages in Marion County
Nancy E.died 21 NOV 1956 in Barbour County. ALL of these documents are online and clearly show an E for middle name,not an L. Lidia a nickname perhaps?

Nancy is a nickname. I have seen it as a nickname for Ann, Hannah, Agnes, and even Elizabeth. Lidia is seen as Lydia, Lida, Liddy. In the 1910 and 1920 census, there is no middle initial for Lidia. I am stumped.
