Richmond D. Ainsworth enlisted in the 24th Michigan, Company K on Aug 8, 1862 and served until he was discharged due to disability on August 13, 1863. He was born in Jefferson County, NY. He was residing with his wife Elmira (Porter) Ainsworth and his children in Nankin, MI. My great-great grandmother Mary Martha (Ainsworth) Whitehead was only 6 months old when he mustered out.
