Hi,
Seeking confirmation of service and the oath of patriotism for George Oller/Oler. Any other information would certainly be appreciated.
Thanks, Bill Tiffee Silverton, Oregon
Hi William,
Thanks for the response. I have very little information for George Oller. It's very possible that he may be the person you've mentioned. Most of his children were born in KY including his son Edward, my direct link to George. Most of the info I have has been gleaned from census records and bits from other researchers.
Can you tell me more about Capt. Baxter and the Chester County Militia and anything else you might have on George.
Thanks, Bill Tiffee Silverton, Oregon

In an email of 19 Oct 2001, Betty Ollar suggests that Leonard Reed was from Frederick and Washington Counties MD, then went on into Yogohania VA (Washington County PA today) then came to KY with the Logsdons, Ollers, Durbins and Simons families along with other men in the Chester County Militia who had served in the Revolutionary War.
In an email of 20 Oct 2001, Betty Ollar suggests that Leonard Reed was in Frederick / Washington county MD and served in the militia there about 1778. He went to Yogohania County VA. That area was claimed by VA and PA at that time. In an email of 16 June 2002, Betty mentions that Leonard at one time may have purchased land in Yogohania VA./PA.
It is just north of Weirton, West VA. today but by 1781 it was called Washington County PA . There was about 75 men who served in Capt Edmund Baxter's company called the "Chester County Militia" during the Revolutionary War in that area. Leonard is believed to have served with the 4th Battalion of the Militia. Most of the men were from MD, but some were from PA and VA. There was a group of 26 of those men from that company that came into KY in 1788 / 89. This group included Capt. Charles Coulson, George Oller, Edward Logsdon, John Sapp and John Simon. Leonard Reed Sr. was one of those men, along with George Oller and Prudence Logsdon, his wife as well as Edward Logsdon and Mary"Polly" Brown his wife. They settled in Madison county for a while then later went to Hardin County, then Barren. When Elizabeth Reed married William Howard 28 Sept 1793, Edward Reed was the bondsman. Then later Edward Reed married Margaret Close in Hardin Co, 9 April 1795. My Oller's and George's son in law "Stumpy" John Durbin moved to Hardin too. Stumpy shows up getting some acreage in Logan county but it is the same property he sold in Barren County before they left for Ill. in 1811. In Barren County John Reed married Drucilla Durbin, a sister to Stumpy Durbin, so they became BIL's. I think you have the marriage. There were two Leonard Reed marriages in Barren, one to Nacy Satterfield and the other to Julia Wooley, both in 1803. Thanks William.
This helps to pinpoint their movements.
Still trying to get back to before the Revolutionary War and George Sr.'s whereabouts.
If you stumble across anything, let me know.
