Have you contacted the Wayne Co.,IL. Public Library about your Robinson's? Another place to check is a history or genealogy society. I also have had luck writing a Letter to the Editor of the local newspaper. Check the search bar for their e-mail addresses. Good Luck! Also check the Robinson's on Rootsweb.com.com

His wife Hester Marie Locke and their 2 youngest children Alexander and Alice came to Wayne County Illinois after his death. Alexander the son was my 2nd great grandfather. Like to find any information on who the parents of the senior Alexander might have been.

I'm new and still learning how to navigate, so forgive me if I've missed something here that might have answered this question.

I'm looking for information on Lucinda Robinson who married Simeon heath, Jr in Tolland, CT on July 4 1804. They subsequently moved to Geauga, OH along with simeon's brother Isaac and his wife, Lavina Robinson (married 1800, may be a sister or a cousin). I've only been able to find a marriage index listing which says she's 'of Willington'. She died sometime after 1815 and before 1856 (when Simeon died), probably in Geauga, Ohio, but I can find no records.

I'd found one fairly good source placing her as the daughter of Sabin Robinson and Dorcas Johnson, but the relationship is calculated (no solid documentation). I've also seen Andrew, Reuben or Bethuel Robinson listed as her father. I can only rule out Andrew since his daughter, Lucy, was born 1798.

Any information would be appreciated.

Comment by Garry Robertson on May 20, 2012 at 5:16pm: I'm always looking for any information on Samuel Robinson and Mary Mcgill. They were married in County Tyrone, Ireland, in 1849. They shortly thereafter emigrated to Upper Canada and settled in Streetsville (now Mississauga, Ontario). Samuel's son George Robinson changed the family name to Robertson in the 1890's. If any of this sounds familiar to you, please let me know.

Or checked the local county public library for information on your great-grandparents or their family? If they were from a rural area or small town I have had luck writing a Letter to the Editor in the local newspaper. The big city newspapers don't like to print the genealogy letters I have found. Give as much information as you have ,in your letter,on your great-grandparents & say you're looking for any descendants who may still live in the area. I have found several distant cousins that way! I would leave your name,e-mail address & snail mail address in case some people still don't have a computer. Good Luck!

Comment by Cailin on January 14, 2012 at 4:44pm: I was able to get copies of the death certificates for my great grandparents Thomas and Catherine (Kate) McGlory Robinson. Both were born in the US and both sets of parents were born in Ireland but it doesn't say where. The handwriting is atrocious on the certificates so it's hard to make out the mother's maiden names. Looks like John McGlory and Mary Halry/Halsy/Haley and William Robinson and Anne Gawel. (Best interpretation). I haven't had luck on Ancestry and I have no idea what part of Ireland to look in for them.
