Two caveats ~ this is written from a poor memory, and in the case of Col. Obendience Robinson; there are so many generations back, that I may have a bad link is very likely?
I tnink I recall perhaps a decade ago; a quality circa 1750's state of Virgiana, USA, prominent Robinson family website. His name may have been Beverly Robinson, or Col. Beverly Robinston. If you are stuck in your state of Virginia Robinsons going back; you might alternatively try descending down some of his family two or three generations, looking for that illusive link?
I think it was on the eastern shore of 1600's Virginia, I have a Col. Obedience Robinson link to North Carolina. Again; as an alternative; you might try looking into two or three generations of his Robinson named descendants, especially if they are known to have removed to the 1700's state of Virginia mainland.
Thanks for the welcome. I would love to know if there is anyone else looking for Robinson's out of NY, I guess. I'm not sure what I NEED but I'll take any help I can get! LOL.
Ok. My Robinsons came from Ireland to NYC. My grandmother was a Robinson before she married. Her father was Thomas Robinson. He married a Catherine McGlory. They had William, John, Caroline, Lucy, and Sue. Catherine died in childbirth in 1917 and the baby is buried in her arms. I don't know what the baby was.
I descend Christopher Robinson of 1730's Exeter, N.H., son of blacksmith John Robinsin. His wife Mrs. Elizabet Hilton Robinson, had daughter, Elizabeth Palmer, who wed one-armed legislater, inn keeper at Exeter, Maj. Barnabas Palmer, Sr., who's daughter Margaret "Molly" Palmer wed Wakefield/Dover legislator, LtCol David Copp, Sr. Seek other Chrtistopher Robinson descendasnts. Jim Millerr ~ Southport, N.C. USA.
You might also check with the county public library where he died to see if they have any information on your family. Most libraries today have their own web site on the internet. You know he died between 1870 & 1880. Good Luck!
