You know, once I started researching Isaac Robinson, I found a number of guys by that name. My guy seems to have been especially quiet. I think he let his in-laws do all the rabble-rousing and Hell-raising. Can an ancestor just have been too good?

I am chasing a James Robinson, married about 1680 in old Baltimore Co MD, and died there 1695. Sons James Jr and Jonas. James Jr born about 1681-1685 died 1751 Linville Creek, Augusta Co VA. His son, Isaac Robinson born about 1726 old Baltimore Co MD, died 1808ish in NC. I descend from two of Isaac's kids, Mary and Samuel. Maiden names of wives: Bowing, Unknown, Perkins, and Unknown. Mary Roberson (note spelling) married William Simpson III. Their kid, Benjamin D. Simpson, married his cousin, also Mary (G.) Roberson, 1808 in Livingston Co KY. Benjamin D. SImpson was Administrator of the estate of Samuel Roberson (both his Uncle and father-in-law) 1842 Osage Co MO.

We all have those genealogy brick walls, Rose. We think that it's just us in North America with them! I'd really like to know where in the UK our first 1685 Robinson immigrants came from, the general feeling is that they were Scot colonists of Ulster. There is a Thompson family they married in with (several generations) who came via Scotland, England, Ireland, then North America. So, perhaps our Robinson's also took that root. Is it your feeling that the Robinson line started in Scotland? There are two clans with a Robinson sept.
We can only go back as far as the 1841 England census. There we find John (my husband's great-grandfather at 6 years old. He was born in Westoe, Durham, England. Civil parish was Jarrow. Hundred: Chester (East Division) and the registration district was South Shields. I'm afraid most of that information is confusing to me. The family consisted of the father, George, age 35; mother, Eliza, age 30; Eliza, age 14; Mary, age 10; John, age 6; Sarah, age 4; and Isabella, age 1. We know John was still in England in 1861 and emigrated that year to America. Have no idea what happened to the rest of the family. Whether they stayed in England or moved elsewhere. He and his wife Mary Cunningham, lived in different cities in Pennsylvania and eventually ended up in the Johnstown Pa area. There is no one left who can help fill in the blanks, so we can only guess. Any help would be appreciated.
Rose Ann, do you know of any of your ancestors who emigrated earlier than 1800's? There are still plenty of Robinson's in the UK who must have known of some ancstors who emigrated. I'd love to hear from some of you UK Robinson's!!
Hello,
Researching Robinson family who originated from South Shields, Durham, England. There was John T. b. 1834 or 1835, wife, Mary Cunningham, b. 1835 in Ireland. Children were: William, b. 1861, Hannah, b. 1862, Anthony, b. 1864, Mary J., b. 1867, Lydia A., b. 1869, Sarah, b. 1871, James, b. 1873, George, b. 1877 and Susan, b. 1879. They were in Brush Valley, Indiana, PA in 1880. Would like to find William and James information. George eventually went to Cleveland, OH . Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
In generations 5 and 6 both wives are Greens. I cannot place them with any other Green families in the Cape Cod area at this time period.
Also, in my paternal line, in generation 5 John Mayhew and Ruth Davis went to Nova Scotia. The family stayed there until generations 9 when they returned to Massachusetts. I need vital records (not the Yarmouth Genealogies nor any other compiled genealogies) on this line to for a Mayflower application.
