The Genealogy & Family History Social Network

My adoption story is an odd one, as I am not adopted nor have I given up a child for adoption. My parents are not adopted and I don't have any full or half siblings out there who were given up for adoption. But nonetheless, I have discovered that I am part of a birth family, a birth family that has asked me to find these children, since I have had such success with find dead people and no one has had any luck finding the children who were adopted so many years ago.

In my quest for genealogy and family history, DP and I discovered a long lost family story/secret. My MIL, DP's mom, has two (half) siblings out there whom she has never met. She has always wanted to find them and has always wanted to meet them. Hopefully, through my many searches, we will be able to find these long lost children and welcome them into yet another part of their family.

So here goes:

Frank was married to Linda, and together they had four children (1961, 1963, 1965, 1966). Shortly after the birth of their last child, Frank and Linda separated and divorced. Linda later remarried and had three more children, the first being born in 1970. But during that four year gap (1966-1970) Frank also remarried.

In his second marriage to an unknown woman, he had a step son. His wife also bore him twins. (We believe they were boy/girl twins.) Apparently Frank left her at some point because she was a horrible mother to her son. It was then discovered that she was pregnant. Frank never believed they were his children so we have no idea if his name is even on the birth certificate. Either way, this woman had twins. They were later taken away from her and put in foster care, with the foster mother of Carol Holowitz (sp?). They were later adopted.

Frank's siblings do not talk about this, although they do know about it. Frank, himself, never talked about it either. He died in 1991 so there is no asking him now. (And as far as we know, their mother has since died as well.) Some of his siblings said they were definitely his children while others said no. Still, we want to find them. They have four half siblings with their father and those siblings want to find them and build a relationship with them. Of their four half siblings with their father, all of them have children and two of them have grandchildren!

The twins' mother was from Washburn, Wisconsin. We assume, but are not sure, they were born in Washburn, Wisconsin or Ashland, Wisconsin, meaning they were either way born in Bayfield County or Ashland County. They were born between 1966 and 1970.

And that's all we know.

We are willing to do DNA testing to find out if they are indeed Frank's children. All expenses will be paid for and the twins are not expected to pay for anything.

We all realize that these children have families. They have (adoptive) parents who love them very much and have provided them were grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins. In no way are we trying to take that away or replace it. All we want to do is add to it.
