African Ancestored Genealogy

Dedicated to all things African Ancestored!

I like the inclusiveness of the term; it includes North America, South America; in fact the entire globe!

Another way of expressing this is the African Diaspora

From Wikipedia:

African diaspora; One of the largest diasporas of pre-modern times was the African Diaspora, which began at the beginning of the 16th century. During the Atlantic Slave Trade, twenty million people from West, West-Central and South-east Africa were transported to the Western Hemisphere as slaves.

This population and their descendants were major influences on the culture of English, French, Portuguese and Spanish New World colonies. The Arab slave trade also transported Africans from the continent, although the effect of the Diaspora to the east is more subtle.

It is my hope that you will participate in the discussions, contribute information, and basically get in where you fit in!

Hello folks,

Be mindful that at any time during American Slavery, 10% of the African Ancestored population were "Free Persons Of Color".

Their freedom was tenuous at best; as they could be illegally forced or captured and rendered into slavery.

See I never knew any of my relatives on either side of my mom or dad, my dad is african american, we grew up not knowing my grandmother, aunts or uncles, and cousin, so that is why it is very important to me to find out where I came from, I hope to one day find living relatives

No, i'm thinking Arkansas, but on my grandmother's death cert. she died in 1941, but her mother signature is on the death cert. and if she my great grandmother, was still alive, when my grandmother died she would have been 70 years old. From the 1900 census for Brinkley, Arkansas my ggreat grandmother's name was Filamensia ? Lowmax, but on my gmothers d. cert. it says something like F. Lonenza Anthony or Flonenza Anthony I can't really make it out, it looks like the F is seperated from Lonenza part of her name, so i'm wondering if Lonenza is her middle name.
