Genealogy makes many of us take an interest in the various cemeteries and burial grounds where our ancestors are buried.
The last several days has been a distressing one with stories of the descecration of historic Burr Cemetery in Chicago. The one lession is for us all to become actively involved in the preservation of those gravesites where our own loved ones are buried. There is a group emerging form Arkansas, called PAAC--Preservation of African American Cemeteries, and I had the honor of attending their conference last year in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. This is a wonderfully devoted group, and I hope that many others will become pro-active in cemetery preservation as well.
Your thoughts?
And I hope none of your have loved ones at Burr Oak--such a disheartening story.
