A special nod goes to the Chicago community of African American genealogists--who are taking their passion for genealogy into the community where they live. One church now has a genealogy department, one man teaches genealogy to a local boy scout troop, and one woman has taught her granddaughter so much about the history that she even feels that she knows her favorite ancestor Freedonia. Tony Burroughs has written a curriculum that is being used by the schools, and teachers are now incorporating genealogy into their history lessons. Let us make the efforts from Chicago a model for us all to follow!
