I have in my family a Prate Poe married to my aunt Huldy Martha Poe. They are found in the 1900 census in Jefferson County, a brother Charles Poe is living with them. Any connection?

Hi Pat,

No connection that I know of. My poe line is James Poe (1797-after 1880) and wife, Mary McMillian Poe (1801-after1880). James and Mary had a housefull of children with some of them being: Asa Tillman, Alsey Drucilla, Aspsey Ann Siovana, William Stephen, James, Nancy, Mary Emma. They married into the Kimbrell, Randolph, Raburn and other families mostly around Fayette and Walker Counties. This family was in Tuscaloosa by 1830.
