Hey it's ok. I noticed it because I have yet to become a fan of Family Tree Maker after my disaster with FTM 2008 . I'm loving Ancestry.com trees

My apologies. I think I am the one who started the FTM discussion. I didn't know there was a place for FTM users as I am one of your newbies. This website is amazing.

You'r right. I also belong to the Family Tree Maker Group but replied to this group because that's where the subject came up.

Am I wrong? This group is for the online Ancestry.com family trees. The software, Family Tree Maker, has it's own group: "Family Tree Maker Fans" http://www.genealogywise.com/group/familytreemakerusers

I use FTM9 and RootsMagic 4 and can search from either one. But I have hit a brick wall on my great grandfather Elisha Rainbolt who died between 1883 when my great uncle was born and 1888 when my great grandmother Celia Wilson, (whom he married in 1873 in Tennessee,) remarried. He lived in Scott county Missouri and Perry county Tennessee. Any help would be appreciated.

I've used FTM for years, I've tried other programs over the years but keep coming back to FTM, especially nice is it's integration with ancestry.com.

I think it was the FTM 2007 version that did not have the capability of producing a genealogical report. I understand that FTM made a patch available to correct this problem.

I have tried several different free genealogy software and always come back to FTM. I have used FTM since version 5 and now I have 16 which I enjoy very much.

I have the same thoughts about FTM 2006+16. I have a couple of friends who bought 2008 and they say it works well for them.

I have used FTM since 1995 and am now on the 2006 version +16.
I don't think I could get use to a new format. I would surely miss the older versions birthday report on living individuals that is in my version. I update it every year & relatives ask for the birthday report so they can see how they have moved up on the list in age order (how many relatives are older & younger)
