I have been a member of Ancestry.com for 5 years now. I found my whole tree already there thanks to Genealogist Rosemary West. Thru her, I found out there was a whole book on my Newcomb line. I've had genealogy fever ever since then! The book gave me big "jump-start", as well as Rosemary West. Needless to say, have been researching all collateral lines since then. I also belong to NEHGS which has been very fruitful for me. I think I have had 4 versions of Family Treemaker, but don't think I'll upgrade to 2010. I'm really happy to be a member of GenealogyWise and to have this group to share with and also learn from!

Hi Debbie, Thank you for the warn welcome, and so fast :)

I certainly would like to help newcomers, so I;ll be happy to joint hat group and I will also look over the others you mention. I'm so new here there is a lot to look around and take in, but I'll get to it. I just told my son-in-law I think I;ve finally found a home. I just can't get into the stuff at places like facebook. I;m sure it's fun for many people, and maybe I'm just getting old, but I really dont care who's having a cup of coffee or going to the mall, or sending everyone some little trinket that they then send to everyone else. This, now, this has some meat in it, a reason for existence. I truly am excited. I think maybe I'll start a how to scrap your family history group if there isn't one already.

Hello everyone, I've just found this site, and this group, and I;m excited. I have been doing my family history for over 6 years and I just love it. I am also into scrapping family history data to make beautiful books with them. As a digital artist I like to make my own designs for it.

Right now my focus is on sixteenth century New England, as I have a number of ancestors who came over from England during the pilgrim/puritan era. The guy who fell off the Mayflower and almost drowned named John Howland was a brother to my direct ancestor Henry Howland. These little tidbots make life so exciting.

I have two websites that ae genealogy based, one is for my personal family tree history, at www.katsfamily.info, and the other is more geneal in scope at www.genscraps.com. Please come by and visit. I also write articles on genealogy, and do basic genealogy research for others.

If anyone here has roots in early New England I'd love to compare notes. Thank you for having this group.

Good morning everyone! Do the comments really disappear or do they simply move onto "earlier pages" on the group? Our group already has 3 pages of comments, for example, and I would hope they are all searchable, especially for surnames. How do we find out? Barbara

Hi all. Some of this comments have really good information in them. Might want to start using the discussion forums instead of the comment wall as it only takes a day or less for these to disappear

I got started researching my family history on Ancestry.com about 2 years ago. It's been a real boon. I personally love the new changes - especially the ability to edit people directly from the list - I have so many entries I need to delete (from bad leads), this should help cut my time at least in half!
Also, I'm willing to do lookups.

Heather,
What really gets me is that I've corresponded with this person last year. However, I have no record of sharing my own personal data, only that of our common relatives. Now she won't respond on Ancestry nor to a personal e-mail. I'm offering to help her with some other data, as well as the personal information issue.
