Well, I thought I'd get the ball rolling here. I'm a professional Archivist with about 8 years of work and training. I want to help everyone to make their genealogical and family history material last as long as it possibly can.
As everyone knows, there are papyrus scrolls in museums that are thousands of years old. Today's materials will hopefully be as enduring, but who doesn't have yellowing news clippings in among their family documents and photos? Do you know why newspaper yellows so quickly? How about the best way to preserve those clippings without potentially harming the rest of your collection? Did you even know that those clippings are deteriorating as we speak if you don't do this one simple thing?
