Interested in your Whiteford names. I had James and Jean/Jane Whiteford arriving from Campbeltown Scotland to Melbourne on the Garland in 1852. James was the son of Alexander Whiteford and Catherine Cain/Kain. Jane's parents were Thomas Wyllie and Jean/Jane Morton of Ayrshire. Cheers Anne

Hi all

I wonder if a kind soul with access to the BMD for South Australia might be able to look up the marriage of a Harry Philip Wilson to Laura Page - 13 January 1887 (according to an IGI entry). I am looking for a father's name for Harry. Will the marriage index entry give that?

Unfortunately the NLA newspapers site doesn't yet have the SA papers for that period.

I am trying to determine if Harry Philip was possibly the son of my ancestor Captain Henry Wilson. Captain Wilson lived in SA for about a decade from 1878, but died in England in 1891. His obit was printed in the SA papers in early 1892. It states... "...Messrs. H.P. Wilson, of the Phoenix Fire Office, and O.E. Wilson of Milne & Co., are sons...". It does not specifically state that they are from SA, but this is implied.

Prior to obtaining the obit I did not know about sons HP and OE, so it was a nice surprise. Unfortunately I've had no luck so far in finding out anything more about them. The Harry Philip mentioned above is my only possible lead so I'd love to be able to rule him out (or preferably in!) I have found nothing else as yet for an O E Wilson in SA.
