Hello,  I am new to GenealogyWise.  My Babcock family originated in Castile, NY.  Orlow Babcock is the name of my most distant ancestor as yet - born 1842 in Castile.  He married Phenie Jones - daughter of Sylvester and Mary Ann Charlotte Cordelia Cole Burroughs.  "Cordelia" was the daughter of the Cole family, and was adopted by the Burroughs.  They all lived in Castile, NY.  I appreciate any input about this family!

Hi all my great grandmother Angeline Grant's stepmother Emma Ross's mother was Lois Babcock from Waukesha,Wi.

I thought I would share what I have found out so far using different sources. I will start off going back as far as I have in my notes;

- James Babcock, b. abt. 1554, Essex, England, d. abt. 1580, Essex, England.

- James Babcock, b. 1580 Wivenhoe, [parish], Essex, England. d.12 Jun 1679, Stonington, Norwich, Connecticut, USA.. He married Mary Nln, b. 1584, Wivenhoe, [parish], Essex, England. d. 1650, Dorchester, Norfolk, Massachusetts, USA

- James Babcock, b. 12 Jun 1612, Wivenhoe, [parish], Essex, England, d. 12 Jun 1679, Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island, USA . He married Sarah Brown, b. 1616, Essex, England, d. 1665, Milton, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. She was the daughter of Thomas Bourne & Elizabeth Rouse.

- John Babcock, b. 1644, Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island, USA, d. 1685, Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island, USA. He married Mary Lawton, b. 1644, Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island, USA. d. 08 Nov 1711, Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island, USA. She was the daughter of George Lawton, & Elizabeth Hazard.

- Job Babcock, b.1671, Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island, USA, d. 10 Feb 1755, South Kingston, Washington, Rhode Island, USA. He married Deborah Reynolds, b. abt. 1675, Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island, USA. d. abt. 1754, South Kingston, Washington, Rhode Island, USA. She was the daughter of John & Abigail Reynolds.

Samuel Babcock, b abt. 1699, South Kingston, Washington, Rhode Island, USA. d. abt. 1805, South Kingston, Washington, Rhode Island, USA. He married Bethia Clarke, b. Feb 1705, Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island, USA. She was the daughter of Joseph Clarke & Dorothy Maxson.

- Jonathan Sr, Babcock, b. 23 Nov 1723, South Kingston, Washington, Rhode Island, USA. d. 1818, Newport, Hants, Nova Scotia, Canada. He married Lydia Larkin, b. 1730, Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island, USA. d. abt. 1756. She was the daughter of Edward Larkin & Mary Cottrell.

- Frederick Babcock, b. 1756, of South Kingston, RI, d. Jun 1861, Cornwallis, NS. He married Sarah Woodworth, 1755-1826,She was the daughter of Silas Woodworth & Sarah English.

This brings me to their daughter Charlotte Babcock who married Robert E. Stiles. He was the son of Ruban Stiles & Elizabeth Cummings.

Hi All My Babcock line starts with Charlotte Babcock born 1791 Cornwallis, Kings, Nova Scotia, Canada, and died 28 Dec 1867. She was married to Robert E. Stiles born 29 Jul 1790 Coverdale, Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada and died 12 Sep 1853 Albert, [county], New Brunswick, Canada. Charlotte Babcock was the daughter of Frederick Babcock born 1756 of South Kingston, RI. and died Jun 1861 Cornwallis, NS. & Sarah Woodworth 1755-1826.
The Babcock family is on my mothers side. Charlotte Babcock is my 4th great-grandmother. I have her line back to James Babcock abt 1554 - abt 1579. I would love to learn more about this family!

Looking for anyone who may know Horace Babcock born around 1810 who may have had a son Uriel E. Babcock..we have Uriel's wife and children..some say Uriel's father was Joel C. Babcock because Uriel shows up on a census living in the home of Joel Babcock ..but it could have been his Uncle, or a cousin .. Uriel was born in 1835 somewhere in Ohio..he then moved to MI. and married Jane Lamont.
I was told his father was Horace Babcock, but have not been able to prove that..so if anyone has information it would be greatly appreciated.
