Fremont Barnett, Nebraska
I am looking for a Fremont Barnett who lived in Sherman County, Nebraska and left a wife buried in the Austin Cemetery there in the late 1880s. Fremont had a son Frank who was about 7 or 8 when his mother died. I am historian for the Austin Cemetery and would like to have a name and more accurate dates to attach to Mrs. Barnett's unmarked grave. Thanks in advance for any help you might provide! Linda

I'm Dale Barnett. According to the 1880 census, Fremont Barnett, age 23, wife Melinda, 23, have a son named Frank, 4 months old. They were living in Perry, Buchanan, Iowa. Fremont is listed as being born in Ohio along with both of his parents. Melinda, his wife, is listed as being born in Indiana, father born Pennsylvania, mother in New York. Little Frank is listed as being born in Iowa.
Fremont's parents, according to the 1860 census was Jessee & Sarah Barnett, of Alton, Buchanan, Iowa.
