I have an extra DNA kit from ancestry.com which I paid for a couple years ago and I would like to find a Bostic male to submit it. I did discover a out of wedlock cousin named Paul Hareld who is the son of my dads 1st cousin Theodore Bostic. Paul lives in Rhode Island . Teddys widow and a couple of his kids live in Greenville SC. I'm thinking about calling him to see if he would take it. It's funny my dad did not even know about this one. Teddy's other son Teddy Jr lives in in either Rhode Island or Conn.

It's funny you mentioned your last name. I have a fascination with names and I looked up your last name. I was going to ask about if you were of the Portuguese Jewish connection. Nice meeting you too cousin.

My paternal grandmother is Pansy Lorraine Bostic(k) ( they dropped the k) she was born Aug 1 1904 died Sep 9 1988. Her father was Joel Bostick b Dec 11, 1862 died Sept 4 1929. His father was John Bostick born about 1840 in Richland county.

Kenneth, tell me your Bostick grandparents/great-grandparents - I want to relay the info to my mother. Thanks,

Judith: I haven't done any more DNA tests on my mother's family. I would like to do Larrymore but I need one of my male cousins. On my father's side I had my uncle do a test several years ago. His maternal DNA (which is my paternal great-grandmothers line traced back to West Africa). I know my paternal great-grandfather's line will trace back to Europe. They were originally Sephardic Jews who migrated from Portugal/Spain to Bordeaux, France and then emigrated, as French sea merchants, to Haiti and other Caribbean Islands with some ending up in Charleston, SC. Would like to continue finding the details on Joel Bostic and how he's connected to Susan. If you research census slave schedules from Richland County you will come across Bosticks. I also recall finding some reference to a Bostick Plantation.

Kenneth: Correct - My father was Roosevelt Sasportas and my Mom is Zenia Larrymore. Some of the Hart family are also cousins. I have a large extended family on both sides with many connecting surnames (Sasportas, Switzer, Lysle, Turkvan, Larrymore, Starks, Bonaparte, Bostick, Adams, etc). So you're conncected via the Bostick branch - good to meet you cuz:-)

Hey folks this is getting really good! Filling in the gaps. Once I changed Daisy's last name to Starks I found another family tree with even more info. Her husband Jacob Larrymore under the Hart family tree. I'm supposed to helping my friend paint a bedroom today but this is so addicting. The 1930 census popped up with a long list of children.

Good information, Edwin! Are you planning to do any more DNA tests?  Larrymore?  I am researching the Bostick family for my friends who descend from Susan Bostwick of 1830 Columbia, SC. Susan lived on Gervais Street with her children and owned slaves. A fascinating  history of strength and determination!
