I'm not exactly new but keep forgetting to look at this.  It's a good idea to add the names that interest me, so here goes.

I run the southern part of the Taplen to Tupling ONS, so I'm interested in Taplin, Tiplin, Toplin, & Tupling, and any variant thereof [Teplin usually turns out to be a clerical error, either a or i in a poor hand].

My own Taplin family was in Marlow by 1891 but came from Hampshire via Wiltshire.

I know there were several Taplin families in Bucks from 1696 to 1982, found in Akeley, Amersham Reg district, Ashendon, Aston Abbots, Aylesbury, Beaconsfield, Bourton, Brill, Buckingham, Chesham, Chipping Wycombe, Crafton, Datchet, Dorton, Emberton, Eton, Foscott/ Foxcott, Great Marlow, Great Missenden, Grendon Underwood, High Wycombe, Hillesden, Hughenden, Ilmer, Iver, Ivinghoe, Lillingstone Dayrell, Little Horwood, Maids Moreton, Medmenham, New Bradwell, Oakley, Radclive, Radnage, Slough, Stantonbury, Stoke Poges, Stowe, Thornborough, Tingewick, Twyford, Upper Winchendon, Upton cum Chalvey, Waddesden, West Wycombe, Wingrave, Wooburn, Wootton Underwood.  There will be more, I'm sure.

Slark isn't a common name but seems to have been most frequent in the area where Bucks, Berks, Surrey & Middlesex meet.  I am looking for James Slark who was working by 1802 & married Elizabeth before 1813. I know where he was from 1813 onwards but do not know where he came from as he died in 1832 in London.

The 1798 Posse Comitatus for Bucks has a William SLARKE under servants in Eton

There are a lot of SLARKs in the Calenders of Wills just released on Ancestry 1861 - 1941
