My grandfather was born in the U.S. but during WWI he joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force and fought in the Battle of Vimy where he was wounded. He returned to Canada in 1917 and was in and out of the hospital until his death in 1921. I found in a New York paper an article that he lost his American citizenship because he enlisted with Canada. Looking for more info, any suggestions as to how I could find why the US would have taken away his citizenship.

Interested in any information on my mother's family. My mother was born (1905) in Sarnia, Ontario. Her father was William F. Harris, her mother Rose Williams. My mother had 1 brother, Norman Harris (lived in Sarnia), and one sister Pearl Harris who immigrated to Detroit/Flint Michigan. My mother came to the United States when she married my father William Reinbold. My family lived in Waterloo, Illinois where my parents are buried. Any info on the Harris and Williams family in the Ontario area would be greatly appreciated. I have found some info in hospital records. Thank you

A survey of the settlement of Detroit (South shore only which is now Windsor Ontario) dated July 1782 shows 25 female and 10 male slaves all to French families. My ancestor, François Marentette had 1 male and 2 female slaves. Source: The Windsor Border Region by Lajeunesse page 75.

Je cherche des ancêtres de Nicolas Godé, l’un des premiers pionniers de la ville de Montréal. Son nom ainsi que son épouse Françoise Godois et leurs enfants Françoise, Nicolas et Mathurine se trouvent sur un monument des fondateurs de la ville de Montréal.
Ce monument se trouve tous près du musée d’histoire et d’archangélique de Pionte-à-Callière. Si vous connaissez quelqu’un qui est un descendant de Nicolas Godé, veuillez me le fais savoir. Je suis un descendant de François Marentette dit Godé, l’une des familles pionnières dans la province d’Ontario.

My focus is on finding blacks in Canada dating way back to the New France era. So little has been written about Canadian slavery and though Canada ended slavery a generation before the U.S. did, documenting the lives of Canadian slaves is easier in some ways, but far more difficult in other ways.

Danielle, I'm making no guarantees but I'll try to see what I can find for you. I'm on Ancestry, and have a lot of Canadians on my tree. Provost from Montreal area too. Somewhere down the line there is probably a connection as Provost and Prevost are similar. E-mail me and we'll see what I can do this weekend. regfan40 at yahoo.

I am looking for any information on my Great-G-Grandfather Paul Edward Prevost born abt. 1902 in Montreal Canada he had come to the U.S we can place him in Omaha,Nebraska from 1932 thru 1936 his three oldest children where born there between that time and in Dallas, Texas in 1942 when his forth child was born it was shortly after that a few months and he left and was not seen or heard from again.I have a collection of photos of him and one of his mother we do not know her name but only grandma Prevost two of his four children are still living thier mother has passed and twoo siblings she never spoke of the past and they would really like to know more about thier father and that side of thier family when i begain researching our family i only than realized they new very little and now that they are nearing 80 i hope them know something with help from anyone who may know anything and i have photos if a face can help please let me know...Danielle

I am looking for any infro on currie-curry, doran and briody. They were all born in nova scotia,cape breton. My mother was born in port morien, as was my father. She was a currie and he was doran. Anyone know of these families?
