The first census
was held August 15. 1769. They just counted how many persons and a little bit more, no names though.

Three censuses only counting men
1663/66 and 1701
The latter is more or less lost, whilst parts of the two other ones can be found and also digital.

The censuses we normally referr to:
1801
February 1st 1801 was the day the population was conuted. This census does not registere where people were born. Digital census.

1815, 1825, 1835, 1845 and 1855
Numeric censuses were taken. Some lists of names have been kept and can be very interesting.

1865
December 31st 1865 is the day it was registered by those living in the houses. This census includes place of bith as well as religion. Digital census.

1870
Only in cities.

1875
December 31st 1875 was the day for this census. Citizenship is added. This census asks what year the person was born, whilst the earlier ones asked about age. Partly digital census, work going on to complete it.

1885
Only in cities

1891
This took place January 1st 1891. This census is counted according to municipality whilst the previous ones were registered according to the boarder between churches.

1900
At 24 h the night to December 3rd 1900 was the actual day and time. Not many changes from information in previous censuses. Digital census

1910
New census evry 10th year after 1900. You will have to wait 100 years to look at them and the next one will be there digital December 2010.
