Hi all-

In my research I have used census records from the U.S., Canada and the U.K. what other countries' have other researchers used-

I like the Canadian/U.K records because they list religion and are usually more specific as to where someone was born-

I have also used census records in Ireland that were also pretty specific.
I wonder why they are more specific than the US ones? Is the purpose for doing a census different depending on what country where it is taken?
Hi Linda My great grandparents were from Ireland, would love to know how to search Irish census records. My greatgrandfather was Edmond Lawlor from Co. Kerry Rathmore and my great grandmother Ellen Harrington Lawlor from Co. Cork any help on how to find them through census records would be great. Thanks Karen Worth-Carter
I have used census records from Denmark and they vary over time as to what data is available. I suppose each country had varying needs for the type of data they wanted to collect.
I have used the census for the U.S. and Canada, it has helped me fill in names that I was not aware of, it has been helpful. Now I'm going to start working on another part of the family from Central America. How and where do I get those census? Can anyone help me?
I have also used Norwegian census records.
I have looked into colonial Spanish censuses of Florida, in researching a book on the colonial, territorial, and state censuses of Florida. Some are in the East Florida Papers, of which the originals are in the Library of Congress. Some libraries in Florida have microfilm copies.

Other Spanish colonial Florida censuses are on microfilm at the P. K. Yonge Library of Florida History at the University of Florida at Gainesville. These were originally taken as Photostat copies in the early 20th century, from the Papeles de Cuba (Cuba Papers) in the General Archive of the Indies in Seville, Spain.
