Samuel Christy was born 1785 in Iredell County, North Caroline and 1845 in Rock Creek, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Samuel married Eleanor Sanards on 8 Dec 1808 in North Carolina. Eleanor was born 10 June 1787 in Virginia and 26 Jan 1877 Salt Creek, Davis County, Iowa.

After the death of Samuel. Eleanor moved to Davis County, Iowa, along with growing children. There she married again, this time to John Smith on 8 Dec 1858 in Davis County, Iowa
