Close family

Researching my granmother Maud Close born Ripon Yorks 1885 died Ripon 1946 .I think she was one of 9 born to John Close and Mary Ann ( nee Tinsley) I lived in Ripon until I married Ibut never met any 'Close' relatives in the city , where did they all go? I understand that John Close was from Fountains Abbey and the family was in service at Fountains Hall.
