i am looking for the burial place of my great grandfather.....Robert Perry Tarpley b march 20,1847 in Yolabushaa County, Mississippi and some records say died April 4, 1874 in Yolabusha County, Mississippi..married Martha Susan Coffee or Caffee about 1866 in Yolabusha County, Mississippi....anyway i want to find where he is buried so i can put a headstone on the grave site....any help would be much appreciated........Larry Tarpley Tulsa,Ok Ltarps@cox.net

Jammie,having done a bit of genealogy it has been my experience( & few others) that stories pasted down in family lore usually get altered each time there told.:)

yes i saw that but the age is really off. not real sure the story is true he would have been pretty young but he supposely had a hard life

Jammie,about the only John Whitike(last name spelled different)r listed was A John Whitiker--Pvt.--Company F--Carlton's Regiment Arkansa Calavry. Not much abot him,though.--Russell

looking for a John Taylor (JT) Whittiker who would have been only 12 but was a tall man and may have lied about his age. Story that has been told he was in the army (confederate) and had been captured and was in a building and asked to put another log on the fire but instead knocked the door down and ran away. he was supposed to be in Texas or Arkansas

I desc. Capt.Edward Malone, Sr., CSA, Co. F, 24th Ala. Inf., earlier under his brother-in-law, Maj. Henry van Buren, Galveston, Tex, he was in the Rio Grandee Vol. Light Artillery (Galveston Battery) that used two guns from The Texas Republic Navy. Edward and brother, Capt. Thomas Malone, Jr., CSA, were both Mobile privates in the Mexican War. Edward and van Buren wed the daughters of Mobile 1815, 3rd U.S. Inf., Col. Gilbert Christian Russell, Sr. Malone is buried Trinity, Epis., Galveston. He was Galveston and Mobile cotton factor.
