Purpose

For everyone who loves the Civil War or has CSA ancestors. Lets help each other with research.
------
For Texas Researchers:
Texas Adjutant General's Department:
An Introduction to Military Rolls at the Texas State Archives, 1835-1915, 1917, 1935, undated

Civil War military rolls, 1860-1865, 54.06 cubic ft. (two series)
"Confederate" military rolls, 1861-1865, 52.76 cubic ft.

------
Looking for CSA Records but can't find them yourself? I used The Confederate War Department and while it isn't a free service, they found what I could not.

If you have the links to your state's archives, such as I have posted for Texas above, please post them and I will try to get it up in that section ASAP.

Does anyone know the history of the Rio Grande Volunteer Light Artillery, also known as the Galveston Battery, and Van Buren's Battery? It used two light cannon from the earlier Texas Repuplic Navy and helped sink "Star in the West". Capt/Maj Henry van Buren commanded it with his brother-in-law, Lt. Edward Malone,Sr., buried Trinity Epis., Galveston. Cotton brokers, they were the sons-in-law of 1815 Mobile, Alabama, 3rd U.S. Infanrty, Col. Gilbert Christian Russell, Sr. for whom Russel Co., Is named. Jim Miller~Southport, North Carolina

Dawna, years ago, I got a copy of records of one of my gt-grdfather's Civil War records from the State of Texas. Was I ever thrilled! It contained an interview of my gt-grdmother telling where they had lived, how they fleed from Jacksonport, Arkansas, to Texas, because of the nearness of the Union Army.

You do know that the Confederate records are housed in the individual states of the Confederacy, don't you?

Dawnna: I have gotten copies from footnote.com. Post what you need and someone will see if they can find it. Be as specific as possible, the more detail the better luck we'll have.

Has anyone had any luck with a Civil War pension file for a Confederate soldier?
